How Much Can I Deposit

One of the great things about AHR is we let YOU decide when and how much you want to deposit into your HSA.  You can make deposits at the beginning of the year, or at the end of the year, or monthly, or quarterly, or whenever you want to file a claim!  It is your choice! 

You can invest up to 100% of the amounts shown below, prorated by the number of months that you have a HSA eligible health insurance policy in that year.  For example, say you have a $5,000 family deductible policy that started in January.  You could invest up to $5,800 that year.  If your policy did not start until June, you would be able to deposit for 1/2 of that year: .5 x $5,800 = $2,900 for that year.:

The maximum amount you can put into your HSA is:

Family Coverage:  $5,800 in 2008, $5,950 in 2009.

Individual Coverage: $2,900 in 2008, $3,000 in 2009.

Individuals 55 and over may make additional "catch up" contributions of up to $900 in 2008, and $1,000 in 2009.  A married couple, both over 55, can make a "catch up" contribution of up to $1,800 in 2008, and $2,000 in 2009.
